An excellent choice for your business

Polished Concrete

Polished concrete has emerged as a popular flooring option for commercial spaces due to its numerous advantages. This versatile material offers a combination of durability, low maintenance, aesthetic appeal, and sustainability, making it an ideal choice for a wide range of applications.

Durability:

  • Resistant to Wear and Tear: Polished concrete is exceptionally durable, capable of withstanding heavy foot traffic, heavy equipment, and even spills without showing signs of damage. This makes it an excellent choice for high-traffic areas such as retail stores, warehouses, and industrial facilities.
  • Scratch and Stain Resistant: The dense, polished surface of concrete is highly resistant to scratches and stains, ensuring that your floors maintain their appearance for years to come.
  • Long-Lasting: Polished concrete is a long-lasting material that can last for decades with proper maintenance, providing a cost-effective flooring solution.

Low Maintenance:

  • Easy to Clean: Polished concrete is incredibly easy to clean and maintain. A simple sweep or mop is often sufficient to keep the floors looking their best.
  • Minimal Upkeep: Unlike other flooring materials that may require regular waxing, polishing, or refinishing, polished concrete requires minimal upkeep, saving you time and money.

Aesthetic Appeal:

  • Versatile: Polished concrete can be customised to suit a wide range of design aesthetics. It can be polished to a high gloss finish for a sleek, modern look, or textured for a more rustic or industrial feel.
  • Unique: Each polished concrete floor is unique, with its own natural variations in colour and texture. This adds character and personality to any space.

Sustainability:

  • Natural Material: Concrete is a natural material made from readily available ingredients, such as cement, sand, and gravel. This makes it a sustainable choice compared to synthetic flooring materials.
  • Low Environmental Impact: The production and installation of polished concrete have a lower environmental impact than many other flooring options, reducing your carbon footprint.
  • Long Lifespan: The long lifespan of polished concrete reduces the need for frequent replacement, further minimising its environmental impact.

Innovations in Polished Concrete: The Future of Flooring

The flooring industry is constantly evolving, and polished concrete is no exception. Recent innovations have made this material even more versatile and sustainable.

Self-Healing Concrete:

  • This cutting-edge technology allows concrete to repair itself, extending its lifespan and reducing maintenance costs.

Colorsation and Customisation:

  • Polished concrete can now be customised with a wide range of colours and patterns to match any design scheme.

Texture and Finish:

  • From smooth and glossy to textured and matte, there are endless possibilities for creating unique flooring surfaces.

Epoxy Resin: A Versatile Alternative

Epoxy resin is another popular flooring option that offers durability, chemical resistance, and a sleek appearance. It is often used in industrial and commercial settings.

Bio-Based Resins:

  • As sustainability becomes increasingly important, bio-based resins are emerging as a more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional epoxy.

Epoxy Flooring Applications:

  • Industrial floors
  • Commercial kitchens
  • Retail spaces
  • Laboratories

Our team have recently completed a very interesting project in Ipswich at their brand new Community Facility. This new build project was undertaken for Ipswich Town Council. Using Ardex PCT 4 material, we completed the process, enhancing the surface from 40 grit to 3000 grit with resin bonded diamond tooling. The result is a striking polished concrete finish with exposed aggregates, delighting the client with the outcome.
