Types of finishes

  1. Cream Polished Concrete Finish: This is the simplest form of polished concrete floor, which involves polishing the surface of the concrete with diamond pads to enhance its natural colour. It is ideal for commercial spaces that require a clean, modern, and minimalistic look.
  2. Salt and Pepper Finish: This finish is achieved by grinding the concrete surface to expose small aggregate particles, giving it a speckled appearance. It is a popular choice for commercial spaces that require a more industrial and rugged look.
  3. Full Exposure Finish: This finish involves grinding the concrete surface to expose larger aggregate particles, giving it a more textured appearance. It is a great option for commercial spaces that require a unique and eye-catching floor.
  4. Broom Finish: This is a non-polished finish that involves using a broom to create a textured surface on the concrete. It is often used in outdoor commercial spaces, as it provides good slip resistance.
  5. Exposed Aggregate Finish: This finish involves removing the top layer of the concrete to expose the underlying aggregates. It is a great option for commercial spaces that require a more natural and rustic look.
  6. Acid Stain Finish: This finish involves applying an acid solution to the concrete surface, which reacts with the minerals in the concrete to create a unique and colourful finish. It is a great option for commercial spaces that require a bold and vibrant floor.

Colours available

Polished concrete floors can be coloured using a variety of methods, including integral pigments, dyes, and stains. Some popular colours for commercial spaces include:

  1. Gray: This is the natural colour of concrete, and is a popular choice for commercial spaces that require a modern and minimalistic look.
  2. White: White polished concrete floors are gaining popularity in commercial spaces due to their clean and elegant appearance.
  3. Black: Black polished concrete floors are a bold and dramatic option for commercial spaces that require a sleek and modern look.
  4. Brown: Brown polished concrete floors can create a warm and inviting atmosphere in commercial spaces.
  5. Red: Red polished concrete floors can add a pop of colour to commercial spaces and create a vibrant and energetic atmosphere.

Polished concrete floors are a great option for commercial spaces due to their durability, low maintenance, and aesthetic appeal. There are numerous finishes and colours available, and choosing the right one can be overwhelming.

Our team have recently completed a very interesting project in Ipswich at their brand new Community Facility. This new build project was undertaken for Ipswich Town Council. Using Ardex PCT 4 material, we completed the process, enhancing the surface from 40 grit to 3000 grit with resin bonded diamond tooling. The result is a striking polished concrete finish with exposed aggregates, delighting the client with the outcome.
